How Tess Came to be at CSCD
In 2009, Tess visited the church of a missionary family who work as church planters in the Luquillo area. Tess became enthused about sharing the Gospel and determined to return to the island. Tess graduated from high school and returned to Puerto Rico for her undergraduate studies at InterAmerican University in the Fajardo area. While studying there, Tess boarded at CSCD and began to learn sign language so she could socialize with Deaf workers and students.
Tess spent a few school holidays in Guatemala where she explored orphanages and prayerfully sought God’s direction for her future. Meeting some Deaf people in Guatemala, Tess felt God tugging her heart back to the school for the Deaf in Luquillo. When she returned, she spoke with the school director about pursuing status as a full-time missionary after her graduation.
Tess graduated in 2014, returned to her home in Wisconsin and presented the work of CSCD to some churches and friends there. She returned in January 2015 and began to work in the school office providing much needed support for the school director who also is our only full-time teacher.
Tess continues to work with the church planted in Luquillo as their interpreter for the Deaf during services and Bible studies.
